Lisa Hanson is the sole proprietor and Executive Chef of Mona Restaurant & Bar. Raised in Winona, Minnesota, Lisa has come a long way to finally arrive in Minneapolis. Taking the first opportunity to leave the cold winters of Minnesota, she attended the University of Southern California to earn her business degree.

After short-lived careers in software consulting, bartending, and financial planning, Lisa finally found her calling and attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. She then stayed in New York City to work in fine restaurants and hotels such as Ilo, Aquavit, L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon, the Bryant Park Hotel, and the Four Seasons Hotel. While New York offered endless opportunities, Lisa felt her future was closer to home.

She moved to Minneapolis five years ago with her sights on opening her own restaurant. To introduce herself to Minneapolitans and relearn the Midwestern palate she worked as Chef de Cuisine at Corner Table. That was in 2009. It only took her the last two and a half years to plan and build what you now know as Mona!
